If you would like to have Cheryl speak at your church contact her at 757-343-7783 or hstrymknwmn@hotmail.com. She has a heart to see churches flowing together in unity, supporting their pastor. She has a special sermon she preaches "Receiving God's Gift to the Church" that addresses this issue. The message encourages the church to see their pastors as God's gift to them based on Ephesians Chapter 4. She can work with you on themes as well. "If the Shoe Fits" is based on how we all fit into the body of Christ. She has a book that goes along with that message. Her costs include travel expenses and a love offering. If you are on Facebook look her up. She has a group developed specifically for the woman in ministry. There are monthly video conference calls with both women in ministry and a separate call for the pastor's wife. You can follow her on twitter as well for daily encouraging words.
Mentoring Women in Ministry Weekend Retreat - 24 Hours with other women in ministry - just like you. There are four weekends planned for 2010 in Virginia Beach, VA and one planned in Eureka Springs, AR. This is a time when a small group of women meet at the home of Cheryl Turnbull or another relaxed setting. It is an intimate time together where we share from our heart, encourage, and glean wisdom from each other. From time spent together the women are encouraged to take what they have experienced back home with them and develop relationships with other women in ministry.
This retreat is to help those women desiring to help encourage and support other women in ministry in their area of the country.
I would like to invite you to my home in Virginia Beach, Va or to our retreat in Eureka Springs, AR in 2010. See below for dates of retreats and description of topics.
If you come and can stay through Sunday in Virginia Beach you are welcome to go with me to the Sunday service at Wave church. I am sure you will be blessed. Those of you joining me in Eureka Springs, AR you are welcome to stay through Sunday and attend James River Assembly in Ozark, MO with me. I do understand your own commitments at your churches, but it is nice to see the way other churches "work." You can go incognito and be able to sit back, worship and enjoy.
The purpose of the meeting is to give you an idea of the dynamic of Mentoring Women in Ministry. We go through the book "Shattering the Glass Walls of the Woman in Ministry," as well as just spend time together encouraging each other.
The cost is $50 which includes Friday dinner, Sat. breakfast, lunch, snacks and the book as well as accomdations. Those attending in Virginia Beach will walk down the street to a hotel right for lunch on the beach...which will be extra, so bring money for that meal. Those in Eureka Springs, AR bring extra money for one meal in the evening.
I look forward to having you join me!
Here's what other women are saying about the weekend:
The women that attended the first weekend did not know me or each other. We all had stories to tell about how our families questioned us: "You really want to go to someone's home you don't even know?" My daughters even said, "Mom, you don't even know the women coming? Why are you doing this? That's weird." I didn't think anything of it really, because God had placed it in my heart to do, and I was just following His lead. The other women came because they felt God place it in their heart to attend, so they did.
"I attended the; " Mentoring Women in Ministry Training Retreat" lead by, Cheryl Turnbull. There were so many wonderful highlights. We enjoyed an intimate setting and a beautiful view of the ocean from her bay window. Cheryl is a gifted teacher and her transparency and willingness to share her own personal crisis, while serving in leadership, helped us to bond even closer. I was challenged, refreshed and a fire was ignited to go further in the vision God has given me. I left equipped with the tools I needed. I recommend this retreat for women in leadership; especially pastor's wives. You will leave encouraged and better for attending."

"Thanks to Cheryl and her love for women in ministry, she opened up her home to me and other women for a retreat at her home in February. My goal for joining this weekend retreat was to seek the Lord for a time of renewal and refreshing. As a woman in ministry there are always challenges to overcome and at the time we were facing a very difficult time at our church. I believe the Lord wanted me to connect with Cheryl and I was so glad I did. I ended up purchasing a great resource from her church that I was able to take home and share with my husband. I believe it gave great inspiration and encouragement to the situation we were facing.
Cheryl shared intimately about her personal struggles as a pastor’s wife and woman in ministry. To be able to open up and be real with other pastor’s wives in a small setting was an answer to prayer. It helped to share and spend this time together. What made it even more special was the lovely setting right on the beach where Cheryl’s lovely home is. I appreciated so much her hospitality and warmth and am excited to see how the Lord will continue to bless her and the women she is reaching out to. We really need each other and I believe there are so many ways the Lord wants to bless and encourage women in ministry and this is truly one of those ways. Thank you Cheryl!"
